Sun Peaks, Kamloops, BC

This past weekend I spent some time with my man in Sun Peaks Resort, Kamloops. It is a ski resort in the interior of British Columbia.  Thanks to Groupon we had a wonderful stay at the Delta Resort Hotel for a ski in and ski out accommodations.

Having grown up skiing at Whistler this was a fun getaway. With a smaller village at the top, there is still a lot to do. From ice skating to hot tubs and even tubing...I could see why so many families were there.

Skiing/snowboarding can be an expensive activity - here are a few ways we saved some dollars:

#1- Look for a deal! By researching Sun Peaks I found a deal for a ski and stay for $89 per night. This would save you a ton as lift tickets at Sun Peaks were $74 plus tax.

#2 -  Bring your own food. If you are trying to save a few dollars, food (eating out) is often one of the biggest expenses. By bringing food for your breakfast, lunch and even a dinner - you can enjoy eating out a few nights out and not worry about over spending your budget.

The last tip isn't really a dollar saving tip- but more so a tip if you hate to ski or board with crowds.
#3- Ski on off days - it really helps beat the crowds. Having planned our trip to leave Sunday and arrive home on Tuesday we had 2 full days of skiing with virtually no crowds. Those who were there were families, which made for great conversations.

No lineups on the hill made for a good day of skiing fresh powder!
